Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna said he is ready to vie for the presidency in 2027 during a rally in Mwatate, Taita Taveta County. The statement comes days after his removal from ODM positions.
Sifuna said Kenyan youth are ready to give him a bigger role to lead the country despite losing his posts as ODM Secretary General and Deputy Minority Leader in the Senate. He noted that positions can be taken away but public support cannot.
He spoke at a political rally held in Mwatate on Saturday. His remarks concern the Linda Mwananchi movement which aims to inherit ODM votes in the 2027 general election.
Siaya Governor James Orengo hinted that Linda Mwananchi has its own presidential candidate. The movement is not registered as a political party so it cannot directly field candidates.
