Stephen Merritt and Robin Pecknold appeared on the East Village Radio program 'Elia Vs.,' hosted by Elia Einhorn, on April 30. They chatted with the host and performed several songs, including the Magnetic Fields' 1999 track 'Book of Love' from the album 69 Love Songs. Listeners can check out the performance and access the full episode online, as shared by Pitchfork on May 1. The audio of their rendition is available below the announcement. 'Book of Love' featured on Merritt's ambitious 1999 project 69 Love Songs, which inspired the 2024 Broadway musical All In: Comedy About Love by Simon Rich. In 2024, Merritt marked the album's 25th anniversary with full performances alongside original band members Sam Davol, Claudia Gonson, Shirley Simms, and John Woo. The Magnetic Fields released their most recent album, Quickies, in 2020. Fleet Foxes' last album, Shore, also came out in 2020. Pecknold has since stayed active with singles, an NPR Tiny Desk concert, a live album, and a February announcement of a four-date solo tour featuring opener Allegra Krieger.
