Virginia mother indicted for drowning twin sons in bathtub

A 21-year-old woman in Virginia faces murder charges after authorities say she drowned her twin 17-month-old sons in a bathtub. Amaya Dixon was taken into custody following a grand jury indictment. The deaths occurred last month at her Richmond apartment.

Amaya Dixon was arrested Thursday on two counts of felony murder and two counts of child neglect. Court records show the charges stem from the deaths of her sons at an apartment in the 1000 block of German School Road. Richmond police responded to the scene around 8:39 p.m. on April 17 after receiving a report of injured children.
