A 20-year-old man has been detained on suspicion of shooting dead a 35-year-old in Tolered, Gothenburg, linked by police to the gang conflict in Biskopsgården. Two 13-year-old boys were in the line of fire and are subjects of attempted murder charges. The incident took place near a school on September 9.
The gang war in Gothenburg's Biskopsgården is described by police as Sweden's bloodiest neighborhood conflict. The latest incident is suspected to have been carried out by a hired 20-year-old, who was arrested at the end of last week and detained on Monday afternoon.
On September 9, a 35-year-old man was shot dead with multiple bullets in Tolered on Hisingen, near a school. The murder is linked to the ongoing conflict in Biskopsgården. In addition to the murder, the suspect faces charges for two counts of attempted murder against two 13-year-old boys who happened to be in the line of fire.
"It involves two 13-year-old boys who happened to be in the line of fire", prosecutor Maria Thorell told Göteborgs-Posten. She added: "They just happened to be there". The suspect denies the crimes.
Police highlight the risks of such conflicts in densely populated areas, where innocents can be affected. The detention occurred on November 11, 2025, according to reports.
