Addis Ababa aids over 233,000 residents amid Easter shortages

Addis Ababa city administration has provided aid to more than 233,000 residents affected by social challenges around Easter. The assistance targets the elderly, disabled, physically injured, and low-income government workers, distributed across all sub-cities and woredas.

Kentiba Adanech Abebe, spokesperson for the Addis Ababa city administration, announced the aid initiative.
On Miazia 30, 2018 EFEM (April 8, 2026), the administration extended support to residents impacted by social hardships linked to Easter shortages.

Amid conflicts in central east and fuel scarcity, officials are supplying essential goods at affordable prices to alleviate food pressures and stabilize markets, she stated. This effort embodies humanitarian work, honoring the city's residents, according to Adanech.

Contributions include Jospond Trading with 15 million Birr, Ato Jemal Ahmed (Midrock) 10 million Birr, Ethiopian Full Gospel Believers' Church 7 million Birr, Ato Belayneh Kinde (Bikji) 5 million Birr, Atlet Yohannes Bifa 2.9 million Birr, and Ato Tekabe Mul 500,000 Birr.

Adanech invoked Easter, citing Jesus Christ's love as proclaimed, urging acts of joy, peace, and unity for those in need.
