Bayern Munich beats Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in top match

Bayern Munich defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in the Bundesliga top clash, extending their lead at the top. Harry Kane and Michael Olise scored for the hosts, with Julian Brandt replying for Dortmund. Bayern now lead with 21 points after seven matches.

Bayern Munich prevailed more convincingly than the 2-1 scoreline (1-0) suggests in their Bundesliga matchday 7 clash against Borussia Dortmund. Vincent Kompany's side dominated much of the game and extended their lead at the top with 21 points – five ahead of RB Leipzig.

English striker Harry Kane opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with his 12th goal of the season. Michael Olise made it 2-0 in the 79th minute. Substitute Julian Brandt pulled one back for Dortmund in the 84th, shifting the momentum late on, but the visitors could not equalize.

Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck was blunt in his assessment: "To succeed in Munich, you have to play with courage, with forward drive, you have to – it might sound silly, but – play with balls. We completely lacked that in the first half."

The win highlights Bayern's strong season start and solidifies their status as record champions. Dortmund lingers in mid-table as attention turns to upcoming fixtures.
