Drunk driver severely injured in A2 highway crash

A 39-year-old driver was severely injured on the A2 highway after crashing into the guardrail multiple times while intoxicated. The breathalyzer test showed 3.45 promille. Police confiscated his driver's license.

On Monday late afternoon, a serious traffic accident occurred on the A2 highway between Eilsleben and Bornstedt in the direction of Berlin. The 39-year-old driver veered behind the outer guardrail and crashed into it multiple times, as police reported. He then drove several hundred meters through the median strip.

A breathalyzer test at the scene showed 3.45 promille. The man sustained severe injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. Police confiscated his driver's license. The vehicle was no longer roadworthy and had to be towed away.

The incident highlights the dangers of driving under the influence on German highways. Police emphasized that such accidents are preventable and can lead to severe consequences.
