A major fire broke out around 2 pm in a popular entertainment area in Naivasha town, destroying one wooden building and injuring one person. The Naivasha fire and rescue team arrived promptly and contained the blaze before it could spread further. This incident is one of several fires reported across the country in recent months.
On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, a fierce fire broke out in a popular entertainment area in Naivasha town, razing structures in the vicinity. Mountain View Member of the County Assembly Alex Mbugua, from Naivasha Sub-County, confirmed in a phone interview that the blaze started around 2 pm and quickly spread. "Our Naivasha fire and rescue team responded swiftly to the fire at the entertainment joint, containing the blaze before it spread further. Unfortunately, one wooden building was destroyed and one casualty reported, but other structures were successfully saved," Mbugua stated.
Images show a large fire consuming piles of debris and twisted metal sheets, with thick grey smoke rising into the sky. A crowd of onlookers gathered at a safe distance, observing the raging flames. Nearby multi-storey buildings, including one with exposed window openings and unfinished upper floors, stood close to the scene.
The cause of the fire remains unknown. This event follows another blaze that afternoon in Block B of California Estate in Kamukunji, Nairobi, where a delayed response from the fire department allowed the fire to spread and destroy additional houses. The country has seen multiple fire incidents over the past two months.
