Germany beats Ghana 2:1 in Stuttgart test match

Germany's national football team won its second test match of the year 2:1 against Ghana. Kai Havertz and Deniz Undav scored the goals in front of 52,723 spectators in Stuttgart. The victory marks the seventh consecutive win for Julian Nagelsmann's side.

Germany's DFB team defeated Ghana 2:1 (1:0) on Monday evening in Stuttgart. Kai Havertz converted a penalty in first-half stoppage time (45.+3), before Fatawu Issahaku equalized for Ghana (70.). Deniz Undav sealed the win in the 88th minute.

In front of 52,723 spectators at the sold-out Stuttgart stadium, the match lacked excitement amid heavy showers, but Germany dominated offensively. Three days after the 4:3 win over Switzerland, coach Julian Nagelsmann made four changes to the starting lineup: Alexander Nübel in goal, Nathaniel Brown at left-back, Pascal Groß, and Nick Woltemade. Woltemade headed against the bar in the 53rd minute.

"In my eyes, we played better than against Switzerland, even if we scored fewer goals," Nagelsmann said. Undav enjoyed the fans' support: "It was a perfect evening, win secured, decisive goal scored – top." He defended the booed Leroy Sané and called for team backing.

Ahead of the World Cup finals starting June 11 in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, further tests await against Finland on May 31 in Mainz and the USA on June 6 in Chicago. Nagelsmann will name the squad on May 12.
