Goaltender Hudacek transfers from Dresden to Bremerhaven

Slovak goaltender Julius Hudacek moves from the Dresdner Eislöwen to the Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven in the DEL shortly after his departure. The transfer addresses the injury of starting goalie Kristers Gudlevskis. Hudacek is expected to provide immediate support to the team.

Julius Hudacek, a 37-year-old Slovak, joined the Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven just hours after terminating his contract with the Dresdner Eislöwen. The club in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) urgently needs a replacement for its top goaltender Kristers Gudlevskis, who will be sidelined for months due to an injury.

Pinguins manager Sebastian Furchner explained the transfer in a club statement: “After hearing about Guddy's absence duration, we sorted our options. In close consultation with the coaching staff, we defined a profile—Julius can help us immediately, as he is in game shape and knows the league.” He further praised Hudacek's attributes: “His presence, calmness, and leadership will help us master the upcoming tasks in the 2025/26 season successfully.”

Hudacek had only moved from the Kölner Haie to the promoted Dresdner Eislöwen in the summer. For the current last-place team in the DEL, he played nine games. The transfer highlights the flexibility of the DEL transfer market, where injuries demand quick adjustments.
