The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has invited contractors to bid for upgrading the Kandwia-Kyuso and Kyuso-Tseikuru roads leading to Kalonzo Musyoka's home in Mwingi North, Kitui County. Bidders must inspect the site at Kandwia business center on January 15, 2026, with tenders opening February 5 at KeNHA's Nairobi headquarters.
This follows KeNHA's December 23 tender notice amid tensions between President William Ruto and Musyoka. Ruto and allies, including Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka, have criticized Musyoka's development record over 40 years in office, questioning his inability to fix local roads. Musyoka recently revealed rejecting a targeted 21km tarmac proposal as deputy president to prioritize broader routes, and highlighted past achievements like the Kibwezi-Kitui road.
The move may aim to defuse the spat as Musyoka eyes the 2027 presidency.
