A fire in an underground garage triggered a major emergency response at a hotel in Königswinter on the afternoon. The building was evacuated and around 120 emergency personnel responded. Firefighting operations have been completed.
Two cars caught fire for initially unknown reasons in the garage beneath the hotel building. This led to heavy smoke development. Guests and staff, including a larger party group, had to leave the premises. Police blocked access roads to the hotel. One person was examined preventively by emergency services but did not require hospital transport. In total, around 120 emergency responders from the fire department and rescue services were deployed. The fire department stated that firefighting operations are now complete.
