Kenha issues fresh notices to traders in three estates

The Kenya National Highways Authority (Kenha) has recirculated evacuation notices to traders operating within the road reserve along the Thika Superhighway in Delview, Kihunguro, and Allsops after ignoring earlier directives. Persistent non-compliance will lead to the clearance of illegal structures. This action supports highway rehabilitation and safety improvements.

The Kenya National Highways Authority (Kenha) has issued fresh evacuation notices to traders operating within the road reserve along the Thika Superhighway. The targeted areas include Delview and Kihunguro in Kiambu County, and Allsops in Nairobi. These notices were recirculated on March 5, 2026, after an earlier February notice expired without compliance.

"The Kenha Corridor C Management team, led by Road Inspector Kennedy Karimi, has recirculated the vacation from road reserve enforcement notices to traders operating within the road reserve along the Thika Superhighway at Delview, Kihunguro, and Allsops," the authority stated.

The initial notice was issued on February 23, 2026, directing traders to vacate encroached sections to allow for highway rehabilitation. However, some traders remained in the restricted zones past the deadline. Kenha explained that this is part of its ongoing road safety and corridor management initiatives to reduce accidents and ensure smooth traffic flow on the busy route connecting Nairobi to towns in Central Kenya.

"The traders are required to clear the areas to allow for the restoration and protection of the road reserve," the statement added. The authority warned of enforcement actions, including clearance and removal of illegal structures, for non-compliance. In recent months, Kenha has increased enforcement along the highway to make way for bus bay construction.

This move aligns with national highway management regulations aimed at enhancing safety and order.
