The centre of Moena will host an opening parade on 7 March to celebrate the Women's Alpine Skiing World Cup races in Val di Fassa. The event will welcome the Italian women's ski team and local participants along a festive route. It precedes award ceremonies and preparations for upcoming races.
Val di Fassa is gearing up for a significant sporting occasion with three Women's Alpine Skiing World Cup races scheduled from 6 to 8 March on the La Volata slope in the San Pellegrino Ski Area. These include two downhill races on 6 and 7 March, followed by a super-G on 8 March.
On the evening of 7 March at 6 p.m., the heart of Moena will transform into a red carpet for the Opening Parade honoring the Ski World Cup. The parade will start from Piaz de Ramon and proceed to Piaz de Sotegrava, where participating groups will be presented to the public.
The Italian athletes will arrive in a horse-drawn carriage, joined by ski instructors from Moena, Canazei, Campitello, Pozza, and Vigo. Local ski clubs such as U.S. Monti Pallidi, Ski Team, and Fassa Active will participate, along with the young jugglers of Circensema, the Scufons del Cogo, and the Soraga Folk Group. Representatives from local institutions and FISI will also be present. The Moena Band will provide musical accompaniment throughout the route, while special artists on stilts add to the spectacle.
Following the parade at 6:30 p.m., an award ceremony will recognize the top three finishers from the downhill race held earlier that day on 7 March. Immediately after, the draw for bib numbers for the super-G race on 8 March will take place.
This celebration highlights the community's enthusiasm for skiing and sport, bringing together athletes, volunteers, associations, and artists from the local area.
