La Secretaría de Movilidad de Neiva desplegó un operativo con 90 agentes para prevenir accidentes durante el Festival del Bambuco y la participación de Colombia en el Mundial 2026. Las cifras de enero a mayo muestran menos siniestros pero más muertes que en 2025.

El plan incluye controles de alcoholemia y regulación del tráfico en la carrera Segunda durante los desfiles que comienzan hoy. Edna Johana Cruz, secretaria de Movilidad, destacó que 96 por ciento de las 30 muertes registradas hasta junio corresponden a motociclistas.

Entre enero y mayo se reportaron 155 siniestros, una baja del 7,18 por ciento frente a 2025, aunque las muertes subieron 26,08 por ciento a 28. Los factores principales identificados son el consumo de alcohol y el exceso de velocidad.

Concejales locales como Jesús Garzón y Alejandro Serna pidieron mayor responsabilidad ciudadana. Las medidas contarán con apoyo de la Policía Metropolitana y la Dirección de Tránsito y Transporte.
