Patrick Kane may return to Chicago Blackhawks

Patrick Kane has yet to sign a contract for next season three weeks after free agency opened. Chicago Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson says the team remains interested in the 37-year-old forward.

Kane spent his first 16 NHL seasons with the Blackhawks, winning three Stanley Cups before leaving during the 2022/23 season. He later played briefly for the New York Rangers and spent the past three seasons with the Detroit Red Wings.

Davidson confirmed ongoing contact with Kane, who trains at the team's facility and maintains his base in Chicago. In comments to TSN's OverDrive podcast, the general manager said the club will not rush any decision.

"We meet him all the time. He trains in our facility during the offseason. We await his decision, but he knows that our door always stands open," Davidson said. Buffalo Sabres have also been mentioned as a possible destination.
