La presidenta Claudia Sheinbaum solicitó al gobierno de Donald Trump aumentar las reuniones conjuntas en materia de seguridad tras su encuentro con el secretario Markwayne Mullin.

Durante su conferencia matutina del viernes 22 de mayo, Sheinbaum informó que la próxima reunión de seguridad bilateral se realizará en junio. La mandataria aclaró que la colaboración con Estados Unidos debe realizarse bajo un marco de coordinación y respeto a la soberanía mexicana.

Mullin señaló en redes sociales que discutieron el fortalecimiento de esfuerzos contra los narcoterroristas y el tráfico de personas y narcóticos. Sheinbaum confirmó que la reunión con Sara Carter, titular de la oficina antidrogas de la Casa Blanca, se pospuso y se reagendará para junio.
