According to TSN hockey reporter Darren Dreger, Mark Scheifele of the Winnipeg Jets, Mathew Barzal of the New York Islanders and Morgan Rielly of the Toronto Maple Leafs have all accepted invitations to represent their country. The trio aims to help Canada reclaim the gold medal last won in 2023. Canada holds a record 28 world championship titles overall. Gavin McKenna, who plays for Penn State University and is projected for an early selection in the upcoming NHL draft, is ready to participate. Macklin Celebrini of the San Jose Sharks, who played a key role for Canada at the Olympics in February, is also expected to join the squad.
