Vegas Golden Knights to host NHL Learn to Play in Big Sky

The Vegas Golden Knights announced a five-week Outdoor NHL Learn to Play program in Big Sky, Montana, starting January 4, 2026. The initiative targets boys and girls ages 4 to 10, providing equipment and coaching at Marty Pavelich Ice Rink. A free youth clinic for older kids will follow the first session.

The Vegas Golden Knights revealed plans on November 14, 2025, to host a five-week Outdoor NHL Learn to Play program at the Marty Pavelich Ice Rink in Big Sky, Montana. The program runs on Sundays from January 4 through February 1, 2026, between 10 and 11 a.m. MT. Aimed at boys and girls ages 4 to 10, it requires basic skating competency and offers participants a full set of brand-new hockey equipment, along with five weeks of ice time and coaching in a fun, supportive environment.

Following the initial Learn to Play session on January 4, the Golden Knights will organize a free VGK Youth Hockey Clinic from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. MT for boys and girls ages 9 to 13, also requiring basic skating skills. The event will include appearances by members of the Golden Knights organization, including Director of Youth Hockey Programs and Fan Development Sheri Hudspeth, VGK Alumni Deryk Engelland, and team mascot Chance. Engelland will be available for photos and autographs from 9 to 10 a.m. MT prior to the first session.

Advanced registration is mandatory for both the Learn to Play program and the youth clinic. Interested parents or guardians can sign up via provided links on the team's website. The Vegas Golden Knights, an NHL franchise owned by Black Knight Sports and Entertainment LLC and established by Bill Foley, have a history of success, including a Stanley Cup win in 2022-23 as the most successful expansion team in North American professional sports.
