Women urged to lead frontline for election success

Ato Adem Farah, vice president of the Prosperity Party, urged women to take frontline leadership roles in the upcoming election process. This call aligns with a national roadmap prepared to enhance women's roles in peaceful elections. Under the change administration, women have achieved over 50 percent representation in government positions.

At an event in Addis Ababa, Ato Adem Farah, vice president of the Prosperity Party and head of its executive office, called on women to actively participate to ensure a successful election. The statement was made on Yekatit 24, 2018 EFMI (corresponding to March 3, 2026 Gregorian).

According to Ato Adem Farah, women will contribute by engaging in candidate nominations, reconciliations, and peace-building efforts, making the election effective and bolstering democracy. The Ministry of Peace, in collaboration with the Women Advancement Agency, has developed a national roadmap titled 'Women's Role in Peaceful Elections.'

Under the change administration, women hold over 50 percent of government positions, which has been highlighted as a global benchmark. Women have been early adopters and participants in initiatives such as corridor development, green legacy, youth employment, and similar government programs. Leading key decision-making institutions demonstrates the benefits of women's involvement, as stated.

Women must exercise their rights to vote and be elected to become owners of political power. The peaceful nature of the election is grounded in conceptual maturity, and women do not bear sole responsibility for it, he noted. Additionally, he encouraged young women to take learning responsibilities and actively participate in the election.
