Alexander Zverev has stated he intends to compete for another decade following his French Open victory. The German player aims to reach world number one during that period.
Zverev defeated Flavio Cobolli in a five-set final last week to claim his first Grand Slam title. With an Olympic gold medal and 24 ATP titles already secured, he told the German publication Bild that his motivation remains strong.
“I want to keep playing for another ten years,” Zverev said. “I’ve already achieved the Grand Slam goal, and the only thing I’m missing is being number one in the world. Even if it’s just for a week, that would be nice.”
The 29-year-old currently ranks third with 7,305 points. A ceremony honoring his Paris triumph is scheduled for Sunday at the Center Court in Halle before the Terra Wortmann Open begins on June 15. Zverev will face Vit Kopriva in the first round.
