Charles Leclerc believes the Monaco street circuit could play to Ferrari's strengths this weekend, though he still sees Mercedes as the team to beat. The Monegasque driver also reaffirmed his commitment to Ferrari after signing a new multi-year contract.
Leclerc said the low-speed corners at Monaco should suit Ferrari after the team trailed Mercedes, which has won all five Grands Prix in 2026 and leads by 72 points. He noted that the Silver Arrows hold a significant advantage but added that Ferrari's chassis and aero package could help close the gap. “I think we are in a better place. If there's one track I will bet on us, it's probably Monaco,” Leclerc said. He still expects Mercedes, McLaren and Red Bull to remain competitive. Separately, Leclerc confirmed he has never considered leaving Ferrari. The new deal is expected to keep him at the team until at least 2028. He cited belief in team principal Fred Vasseur's project and the squad's recent innovations as key factors in his decision. McLaren driver Lando Norris also highlighted Ferrari's low-speed performance ahead of the race.
