Indonesia's Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) held a socialization event on Deep Learning for high school teachers in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara. The event, attended by hundreds of teachers from Lombok Island, aims to enhance teaching competencies. This approach seeks to create meaningful learning amid rapid contemporary changes.
On Saturday (1/11/2025), Indonesia's Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) organized a socialization event on Deep Learning at Universitas Muhammadiyah Mataram (UMMAT) campus in West Nusa Tenggara. The event was hosted by UMMAT's Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) in collaboration with Al Wasath Institute, with hundreds of high school equivalent teachers from Lombok Island as participants.
Beyond mere socialization, the program included enhancements to teaching competencies and capacities. Head of the Curriculum and Assessment Standards Agency for Education (BSKAP) at Kemendikdasmen, Toni Toharudin, explained that this approach emerged in response to rapid contemporary changes. "Kemendikdasmen menghadirkan pendekatan Pembelajaran Mendalam agar menciptakan suasana belajar dan proses pembelajaran yang berkesadaran, bermakna dan menggembirakan," said Toni, quoted from a written statement received by Republika on Sunday (2/11/2025).
Toni emphasized that Deep Learning is not a new curriculum but a relevant learning approach for Indonesian children today. It aims to teach competencies needed for the future.
UMMAT lecturer in elementary school teacher education, Intan Dwi Hastuti, highlighted the core value of this approach: respect for humanity. She noted that every student has potential to be explored. In Deep Learning, students are guided to delve deeper, not just seek quick answers, but achieve meaningful understanding. "Dalam penerapan Pembelajaran Mendalam, semua pihak yang terlibat saling menghargai dan menghormati dengan mempertimbangkan potensi, martabat dan nilai-nilai kemanusiaan," she stated.
