Former Mekelle mayor speaks on lawlessness in Tigray

Ataklti HaileSelassie, former mayor of Mekelle city in Tigray's interim administration, commented on the lawlessness affecting the region.

Ataklti HaileSelassie told Fana Podcast that citizens' security concerns are rising in Tigray due to lawlessness created by the former TPLF group.

He said the former TPLF group has obstructed full implementation of the combatants' disarmament process that started under the Pretoria Agreement. This has prevented combatants from returning to peaceful life.

He also noted that schools and health stations have become hiding places for combatants. Humanitarian aid sent from the federal government is not reaching intended recipients, he added.
