Indiana woman charged with neglecting father and brother

A 51-year-old Evansville woman is facing two counts of neglect of a dependent after authorities found her elderly father and developmentally delayed brother living in severe squalor inside their apartment.

Police responded to the Lincoln Avenue residence on May 1 after a pest control technician reported seeing a resident covered in waste. Officers described the conditions as overwhelming, with urine and feces covering the floors, furniture, and bedding where the two men were found. The father, who has cognitive decline, had oxygen levels at 87 percent and a hacking cough, while the brother showed open sores and a rattling cough after being ill for about a week without medical care.
