KPK seizes hundreds of millions rupiah from ex-ministry staff

The Corruption Eradication Commission seized hundreds of millions of rupiah from Robby Kurniawan, a former expert staff member at the Ministry of Transportation under Budi Karya Sumadi and Dudy Purwagandhi.

The seizure took place after KPK examined Robby Kurniawan as a witness in a suspected bribery case involving railway line projects at the Directorate General of Railways on 18 May 2026.

KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo said the money was allegedly from a private party and handed over through an aide named Bambang Irawan Daeng Irate Djamal. He made the statement at the KPK Red and White Building on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.

On the same day, KPK also questioned Danto Restyawan, former Director of Railway Traffic and Transport for the 2019–2021 period. No money was seized from Danto Restyawan.

The case originated from a sting operation in April 2023. As of January 2026, KPK has named 21 suspects and two corporations linked to railway projects in Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi.

Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has summoned former Transport Minister Budi Karya Sumadi as a witness for the third time on Monday, March 2, 2026, regarding alleged corruption in the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation. This follows his absences on February 18 and 25. KPK deems his testimony crucial as he was the minister during the period of the case.

Former Transport Minister Budi Karya Sumadi testified remotely in the ongoing corruption trial over DJKA railway projects at Medan District Court, denying allegations of tender rigging and fund collection. This follows KPK's investigation, where he was summoned multiple times earlier in 2026.
