Louisville police arrest suspect in 2025 DMV shooting

A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that killed three people outside a Louisville DMV office in February 2025. The Louisville Metro Police Department made the arrest after a 17-month investigation.

The shooting occurred on Feb. 21, 2025, outside the Valley Station driver's license office. Three suspects opened fire on a line of people waiting there, killing Raysa Pacios Valdes, 29, Leslye Harbin Jr., 18, and Antwanette Chillers, 33. All three victims died from gunshot wounds.

Police said the attack happened despite marked LMPD vehicles parked next door, where officers were eating lunch. The suspects fled in a stolen vehicle. Harbin died at the scene, while Chillers and Valdes were pronounced dead at the hospital.

During a Thursday press conference, LMPD announced the arrest of the 19-year-old, who faces charges of murder, wanton endangerment, and receiving stolen property. His name is being withheld because he was 17 at the time of the incident. The investigation continues as police seek two additional suspects.

Chillers' sister, Jamilia Chillers, described her reaction to the arrest as deeply emotional. A GoFundMe for Valdes noted she was renewing her ID at the time of the shooting and left behind a husband and two young sons.
