Nevada man pleads guilty to voluntary manslaughter in neighbor shooting

Eddi Moreno, 34, accepted a plea deal this week in the 2024 fatal shooting of his Las Vegas neighbor Joe Moreno.

Eddi Moreno appeared in court Tuesday and agreed to plead guilty to voluntary manslaughter with a deadly weapon. The charge carries a possible sentence of one to 10 years in prison, plus a mandatory consecutive one to 10 years for the deadly weapon enhancement.

The shooting occurred in May 2024 outside homes in the 2200 block of Starline Meadows Place. According to court documents, the men argued after Joe Moreno was locked out of his house. Eddi Moreno told his wife to grab his gun, warned the neighbor not to approach, and fired when Joe Moreno moved toward him while reaching into his pants and exposing himself.

Joe Moreno's family said he was bipolar and had stopped taking medication. His mother told KLAS that Eddi Moreno "straight-up murdered my son." Eddi Moreno is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 29.
