Nightdive has revealed plans to remaster the 1998 stealth classic Thief: The Dark Project. The studio, known for recent updates to System Shock 2 and other titles, will update visuals and add new features while preserving the original experience.
Nightdive confirmed the project follows its work on remasters including Star Wars: Dark Forces, Doom, and System Shock 2. The effort targets the Looking Glass Studios game starring master thief Garrett in a fantasy medieval setting. Updates include refreshed textures and models, along with new cutscenes and animations. A weapon and item wheel will appear in the user interface, and the PC version will retain support for existing custom maps and campaigns created by fans. A teaser image shows a version that remains faithful to the source material but appears sharper and more detailed. The finished remaster is scheduled for release in winter.
