Paralives adds buses to speed up town travel

The developers of Paralives have introduced a bus system in response to player feedback about lengthy walking times across the game's towns. This feature allows Parafolk to travel between bus stops for a small in-game fee, though it uses a simple fade-to-black transition rather than animated buses. Future updates will include other transport options like cars and bikes.

The Paralives team recently addressed gameplay feedback highlighting the time required for Parafolk to walk from one end of a town to the other. In a video preview shared on social media, they demonstrated the new bus system, showing an elderly Parafolk character traveling from a mountain area to a picnic spot.

To use the buses, players place bus stops at chosen locations on the map. Clicking a bus stop opens a 'Take Bus' menu listing available destinations. Selecting a stop costs three Paradimes, the game's currency, and the character then fades to black before reappearing at the destination. The developers explained that no bus animation is included yet, prioritizing faster travel over visual details. They noted that this approach cuts down on walking time efficiently.

A social media post from the team confirmed that additional transport methods, including cars, boats, and bikes, are planned for early access updates but will not be available at launch. Until then, Parafolk must walk or use buses.

Community reactions have been mostly positive. Fans praised the realistic elements, such as the fare system, and the convenience for navigation. One commenter appreciated that it avoids instant teleportation. However, some Reddit users criticized the unpolished look of the video's animation and expressed disappointment over the lack of a bus loading screen or actual boarding visuals. The team has indicated openness to adding such features in future development.
