Pennsylvania mother and grandmother sentenced for abusing girl

A mother and grandmother in Pennsylvania each received lengthy prison sentences for the prolonged abuse of an 11-year-old girl. The case involved repeated beatings, starvation, and restraint.

Amanda Gregorio, the girl's mother, was sentenced on July 16 to 10 to 40 years in prison. She had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, false imprisonment, unlawful restraint, and conspiracy to commit endangering the welfare of a child.

Stacey Louder, the grandmother, received a sentence of eight to 30 years after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, unlawful restraint, and conspiracy to commit endangering the welfare of a child. Both women were credited with 450 days already served.

The abuse came to light in August 2024 when the child was hospitalized. Prosecutors described months of mistreatment that included strapping the girl to a bed, forcing her to eat cat food, and monitoring her with cameras. Luzerne County Judge David W. Lupas called the actions extreme cruelty.

Attorney General Dave Sunday said the home had become a house of horrors. The child, now in therapy, has made progress since removal from the residence.
