Shinji Mikami, director of Resident Evil and Resident Evil 4, has stated that streaming does not spoil strong games. The comments were relayed by comedian Hidetaka Kano during a June 18 television interview.
Mikami said that if viewers are satisfied after watching a full playthrough, the game was not that good to begin with. He added that developers should create titles players want to experience themselves even after watching streams.
Kano also noted that Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii expressed the same view in a prior conversation. The statements reflect a broader stance among some Japanese creators toward streaming platforms.
Mikami urged continued streaming of his games. His remarks come amid ongoing discussions in Japan about live streaming permissions and copyright practices.
