EU parliamentarian Alice Teodorescu Måwe (KD) labeled critics of Israel's Gaza war as antisemites in the TV program '30 minuter'. She described the war as a defensive action following 'the worst pogrom since the Holocaust'. Måwe refused to answer questions about a secret donor funding her security arrangements.
In SVT's '30 minuter', Alice Teodorescu Måwe defended Israel's military actions in Gaza. 'What Israel has done in Gaza was a defensive war after the worst pogrom since the Holocaust,' she said.
According to Måwe, many have been swept up in 'a zeitgeist where antisemitism has become accepted.' She claimed critics hate Israel and therefore accuse it of genocide. 'It's not that they start hating Israel because they think Israel is committing genocide. Rather, they think Israel is committing genocide because they hate Israel,' she explained.
When asked if she cares about Jews, Måwe replied: 'It's interesting that those who brought up the 1930s pretended to care about Jews. But it was only dead Jews, evidently. Because now when we have antisemitism on the streets, they evidently don't care.'
The host repeatedly asked about a secret donor funding her security, but Måwe did not answer. 'All details about a secure setup negatively affect security, and the reason I take these measures is that I have a protection need,' she said. Dagens Nyheter has criticized an anonymous sponsor paying for the protection.
