NFL analyst Matt Okada has highlighted Michael Pittman Jr. and Jamel Dean as two of the most highly anticipated Week 1 debuts this season. Both players joined the Pittsburgh Steelers during the offseason and are expected to play key roles from the start.
The Pittsburgh Steelers acquired Pittman in a trade and signed him to a three-year, $59 million extension. He is set to play opposite DK Metcalf and provide Aaron Rodgers with additional size on the outside.
Okada noted the signings of both veterans in comments posted Friday. He described Pittman as a reliable route runner who can complement Metcalf and reduce reliance on quick passes to tight ends and running backs.
Dean received a three-year, $36.75 million deal after a strong 2025 season. He is expected to start alongside Joey Porter Jr. and bring stability to a cornerback group that includes Jalen Ramsey.
The duo will face their first test in Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons. Their performances could shape the Steelers' offense under Mike McCarthy and their defense early in the season.
