Arc Raiders launches solo versus squads mode

Embark Studios has introduced a new solo versus squads mode in Arc Raiders, letting skilled players take on full teams alone. This update, part of the game's January milestone, also brings new quests, augments, and map features. It follows a roadmap promising more content in the coming months.

Embark Studios announced the solo versus squads mode for Arc Raiders, an extraction shooter, on January 27, 2026. This option allows players at raider level 40 or higher to queue individually against complete squads of three opponents. Successful solo runs offer a 20 percent XP boost at the round's end, rewarding the high-risk challenge.

The January update includes additional features to enhance gameplay. A new trophy display project encourages players to defeat increasingly difficult groups of Arc enemies, unlocking progressively elaborate trophy cases. Seven new quests and two types of epic augments expand progression options. On the Buried City map, the Bird City condition introduces more bird traps, ziplines, and hidden treasures in searchable chimneys.

This release aligns with the first milestone from Embark's early 2026 roadmap, unveiled the previous day. February plans feature a new expedition window, an additional Arc threat, a fresh Raider Deck, and further additions. The updates maintain momentum after a strong December holiday period.

For context, Eurogamer's review by Rick Lane notes: "Rich PvE combat and an unusually friendly community make Arc Raiders a more approachable extraction shooter than most, but Embark Studios' continued use of AI voice generation is a black mark against its reputation."
