GM Arjun Erigaisi captured the July 7 Titled Tuesday outright with a score of 9.5 out of 11. Seven other grandmasters finished one point behind. The victory marks his first Titled Tuesday title this year.
Erigaisi began the event with five straight wins and remained the only player from that group to reach the top eight. He defeated GM Andrey Esipenko in round six and later beat GM Fabiano Caruana to regain sole possession of first place with two rounds remaining.
A draw against GM Hikaru Nakamura in the final round secured the outright win after GM Alexander Grischuk fell to a discovery. Nakamura finished second among the seven players on nine points, ahead of GM Dmitry Andreikin.
Titled Tuesday is Chess.com's weekly online tournament open to titled players. It starts at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time.
