The British Equestrian selectors have announced an eight-rider shortlist for the 2026 World Championships in Aachen, Germany. Four combinations will be chosen to represent the team, with confirmation expected in mid-July.
The shortlist includes Olympic gold medallists Charlotte Dujardin and Carl Hester, along with reigning double world champion Lottie Fry and World Cup winner Becky Moody. The nominated combinations are Fiona Bigwood with Donna Bella, Dujardin with Brave Heart, Fry with Glamourdale, Hester with Fame, Gareth Hughes with Mowgli-Olympia MC, Moody with Jagerbomb, Susan Pape with Harmony’s Giulilanta and Sadie Smith with Swanmore Dantina.
Selectors Judy Harvey, Jenny Ward and Anne Keen will name the final squad after the Hartpury CDI3* event from 1 to 5 July. Carl Hester with Fame, Lottie Fry with Glamourdale and Becky Moody with Jagerbomb appear most secure based on current Grand Prix averages.
The World Championships run from 11 to 23 August in Aachen. The panel will consider Grand Prix results from the 2025 and 2026 seasons, along with factors such as horse fitness and performance under pressure.
