Mexico City head of government Clara Brugada presented security measures for the Mexico vs England 2026 World Cup match, with restricted capacity at key gathering points.
Capital authorities will deploy 40 thousand public servants for the match scheduled for July 5. At the Ángel de la Independencia up to 25 thousand people will be allowed entry, while the Zócalo will apply the same restriction.
Once capacity is reached in these zones, attendees will be redirected to 50 additional points enabled along Paseo de la Reforma and other areas. Pablo Vázquez, secretary of Citizen Security, detailed that a security perimeter will be established around the Ángel.
In addition, the dry law will take effect from dawn on July 5 until the following day in the Historic Center. Alcohol consumption will be restricted to establishments such as restaurants, hotels and party halls. Myriam Urzúa, secretary of Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection, recommended avoiding mass games that put participants at risk.
