Following their free comeback concert in Seoul last month, South Korean boy band BTS kicks off its 'Arirang' world tour in Goyang on Thursday. The three nights at Goyang Stadium launch what is poised to be K-pop's largest tour ever, with 85 performances across 34 cities worldwide. Organizer Live Nation reports 46 shows already sold out, including 2.4 million tickets for North American and European dates.
The world tour opener takes place at Goyang Stadium, northwest of Seoul, with shows continuing Friday and Saturday. Stops include Tokyo, Los Angeles, Munich, Paris, Toronto, Lima, Santiago, and Bangkok, mostly in stadiums and domes featuring 360-degree stages. The tour is expected to draw the largest audience ever for a K-pop act.
Live Nation highlighted rapid sell-outs, with 46 of 85 dates gone, including the Goyang shows and full North American and European legs. On Wednesday, fans gathered near a mural of BTS leader RM at Ilsan Culture Square in his hometown of Goyang.
BTS will perform tracks from its fifth studio album 'Arirang,' which topped the Billboard 200 for two weeks, alongside past hits.
