Nag-uumpisa nang maagang ihanda ng Comelec ang 2028 halalan

Upang matiyak ang tagumpay ng 2028 halalan, nagpaplano ang Commission on Elections na magsimula nang maaga ang mga paghahanda nito. Ayon sa tagapagsalita na si John Rex Laudiangco, gagamitin nila bilang gabay ang timeline para sa 2025 halalan. Kasama sa plano ang pag-aaral ng mga bagong teknolohiya upang mapalinaw ang listahan ng mga botante.

Sa isang televised public briefing noong Biyernes, ibinahagi ni Comelec spokesman John Rex Laudiangco na agad nilang nagsimulang maghanda pagkatapos ng Mayo 2022 halalan, tatlong taon bago ang 2025 halalan. "Right after the May 2022 elections, the Comelec immediately started preparing what will be needed in the next elections. So, three years before the 2025 elections, we already started," aniya.

Dagdag niya, "That is the Comelec’s plan for the 2028 elections. So next year, we will start early, just like in 2022." Kasama sa mga hakbang ang pagdaraos ng vendor’s fair kung saan inaanyayahan ang mga tagapagbigay ng teknolohiya mula sa buong mundo. "We will take a look at new technologies being promoted worldwide that can be used in the elections," paliwanag niya.

Kasabay nito, pinag-aaralan ng Comelec ang pag-upgrade ng teknolohiya para sa proseso ng pagrehistro, kabilang ang facial recognition at iris scanning. Mula sa dating apat na daliri para sa fingerprint, plano nilang kunin na ang sampung daliri. Layunin nito na mapalinaw ang listahan ng mga botante at maiwasan ang mga flying voters o mga nanunulsol para sa mga yumao na.

"We will make sure that the list we will release come 2028 is accurate, clean and pictures of every voter are attached so there will be no room for the cheaters and impostors come election time," wika ni Laudiangco. Sa ganitong paraan, titiyakin ng ahensya ang maayos at patas na halalan sa 2028.
