Maharashtra Congress president Harshavardhan Sapkal criticized the ruling BJP-Mahayuti alliance following the results of elections to 17 Legislative Council seats, alleging misuse of power and inducements.
Sapkal stated on Monday that the alliance's victory demonstrated the principle of 'Might is Right'. He claimed the BJP used tactics including diplomacy, money, force, and division.
The Congress leader said the ruling party offered each voter incentives of ₹5 lakhs along with other inducements. He added that acts such as poaching opposition candidates and pressuring withdrawals were evident in the polls.
Sapkal noted that in Nagpur, Atul Londhe contested despite lacking numbers, framing it as an ideological battle. A committee of senior leaders will review the Congress defeat, he said.
