“The French ambassador said she understands... but she could not provide information as long as she is (not) authorized,” dagdag niya.

Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida flew to the Czech Republic on April 23, 2026, to facilitate the return of former Ako Bicol lawmaker Zaldy Co, detained at the Czech-German border over incomplete documents and wanted in the Revilla Pandi Flood Control Malversation Case. Lacking an extradition treaty, officials are using the UN Convention Against Corruption amid early-stage proceedings.

Henry Alcantara, a former district engineer at the DPWH Bulacan regional office and now a state witness, will testify in the malversation trial against resigned lawmaker and fugitive Zaldy Co and 15 others over an alleged substandard P289.5-million flood control project in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has survived an initial impeachment attempt against him, but allegations continue about his benefit from a flood control kickback scheme. Some lawmakers say there is strong evidence in the form of text messages that prove Marcos actively knew about the modus. These purported messages have not yet been released to the public.
