Deltarune Chapter 5 released this week and introduced major changes for players on the game's Weird Route. The update locks participants out of Chapter 6 until Chapter 7 arrives.
The Weird Route begins in Chapter 2 when players direct Noelle to freeze enemies and equip the Thorn Ring. It continues in Chapter 4 with forced re-equipping of the ring in the Light World.
In Chapter 5 the route leads to a short sequence at a lake where Noelle and Kris enter the water. The screen glitches and an ominous message appears, indicating players must wait for Chapter 7.
A backup option allows players to tell Noelle to stop instead of proceed. This returns the game closer to the Normal Route while creating separate save data.
Fans have expressed mixed reactions, with some disappointed by the short chapter length and others intrigued by theories involving the Twisted Sword and future chapters.
