Eduardo Cretton of the UDI criticized the Republican Party for announcing a constitutional accusation against former minister Nicolás Grau without consulting the government or the rest of the ruling coalition.
In an interview with the program Desde la Redacción de La Tercera, deputy Eduardo Cretton stated that the republicans must understand they are no longer in opposition. He said that as a governing party they need to move from stridency to responsibility and work as a team.
Cretton expressed annoyance that the action was announced hastily through the press. He also rejected the label of “cowardly little right” applied to Chile Vamos and recalled the UDI’s history with two martyrs and its loyalty to former president Piñera.
The lawmaker indicated that the UDI bench will study the document with lawyers from other parties. He said they could approve the accusation if it is well founded from a legal standpoint.
