Despite cooler weather fire risk remains in parts of the country

SMHI warns of high fire risk in several areas even though the heatwave is over and cooler weather is expected.

According to SMHI there is a large to locally extreme fire risk on Tuesday along the entire west coast. The risk is also large to very large along the Norrland coast and in eastern Svealand, with extreme values in some areas.

Duty meteorologist Erik Höjgård-Olsen explains that the ground remains dry in many places. This means fires can start even without high temperatures.

Increased rainfall is expected in the coming days and may quickly reduce the risk. Precipitation areas moving across the country each day are expected to affect the fire risk eventually.
