SMHI warns of high fire risk across large parts of Sweden

SMHI has issued a warning of high to extremely high risk of fires in forests and fields during Monday.

The warning applies throughout Monday across most of Götaland, Svealand, the southeasternmost part of Norrland and Gotland. The risk is high to extremely high, according to SMHI.

SMHI urges the public to check if fire bans are in place and to be careful when lighting fires or operating machinery outdoors. Fires can easily start from burning, sparks or lightning strikes.

In Örebro County the warning applies from Monday despite temporary rain showers. It will quickly dry up and become dry in the terrain again, says Moa Hallberg at SMHI.
