Walt Disney Imagineering released a behind-the-scenes video detailing the development of the Scooter audio animatronic featured in the updated Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The attraction reopened on May 26 with new Muppets theming. It includes the Scooter figure in the pre-show area alongside penguin animatronics.
Imagineering used motion-capture technology to record performer David Rudman. The team converted the data into precise movements and expressions for the figure.
Details such as the animatronic shell, control stick, and glasses were 3D printed. The resulting figure replicates Muppet-style motions and timing.
The video is available on the Walt Disney Imagineering YouTube channel.
