Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World is undergoing major changes as several long-standing structures from the park's early days are replaced or repurposed. The updates include new lands and attractions focused on Monsters, Inc. and classic Disney animation. Construction is actively transforming areas once known as the Muppet Courtyard and Animation Courtyard.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios is replacing or redeveloping six buildings that date back nearly 40 years to the park’s opening as Disney-MGM Studios. The former Muppet Courtyard is being converted into the front of a new Monstropolis area from the Pixar film Monsters, Inc. This involves the structures that previously housed Muppet*Vision 3D, the Studio 1 store, Pizzerizzo, and Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano. A hanging coaster based on the movie’s door sequence is under construction on what was a cast member parking lot.
