Drake performed a short freestyle at NBA star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s 28th birthday party on July 12. The rapper posted the clip online, and Gilgeous-Alexander shared it with fans. The two Toronto natives have maintained a close friendship for years.
Drake attended the celebration and rapped lines dedicated to the Oklahoma City Thunder player. His freestyle included the lines: “To everybody here / To many more nights / To the ones that loved and to the ones that hated / And to the ones that are here to celebrate the greatest.”
Gilgeous-Alexander posted the video to social media. The pair share roots in Toronto, and Drake has shown support by attending games when the Thunder play the Raptors.
Drake previously covered a LeBron James tattoo with one featuring Gilgeous-Alexander’s No. 2 jersey. In an October GQ interview, Gilgeous-Alexander said of the tattoo: “I understand why it might seem crazy that Drake tattooed me on his arm. But to me, that’s just the homie.”
