Eels shared details of their sixteenth album on June 16 along with a new single. The record is set for release on October 16.
Eels announced their new album Cookie Happened through their label E Works/Play It Again Sam. The band also released the track Cap In Hand as the first single from the project.
Frontman Mark Oliver Everett described the song as a worn-out take from the viewpoint of someone trying to make amends. He linked the album title to a Cookie Monster quote about smiling because something happened rather than crying over its end.
The album will feature twelve tracks including Clobbered, All Forgotten and The Way I Was Made. Everett noted that record companies wanted the early songs to sound defeated.
A documentary about Everett titled The Way I Was Made was announced earlier in March and is being produced by Judd Apatow.
